The scholarship has a number of benefits
- maintenance allowance of S$2400 per annum
- hostel accommodation
- a one time S$200 settling in allowance
- subsidized medical benefits and accident insurance
- exemption from school fee (excluding miscellaneous fee)
- Examination fee (one time only)
- economy air passage at the starting and end of scholarship term
This is a non bonded scholarship and at the end of the two years, the scholars can decide to continue in Singapore or apply overseas.
In case a student wants to break the bond at any stage, he/she may do by paying the amount (+interest) of money he has already utilized from the scholarship. There will be a periodic assessment of the scholar's behaviour and academic performance and if it is not deemed satisfactory, his scholarship may be terminated. In case of termination the scholars need not pay the utilized amount, but if he wants to continue in Junior College, he/she has to pay for everything himself/herself.
Also, since the Junior Colleges in Singapore have a January to December term, the candidate has to drop one year in order to avail the scholarship.
